Learning outcomes |
Students know the aims, problems and methods of manipulation of the empirical data that are used in ecology. Know modern computer technologies that are used when collecting, keeping, manipulating, analyzing and transferring information. Students are able to analyse and model the ecological experiment using the modern computer technologies. |
Content |
Computer technologies for manipulating statistical data and computer simulation methods in ecology and environmental management. Numerical characteristics (such as measures of locations, measures of spread) used in the statistical models. The standard methods, different models intended to describe the distribution of impurities in the air, lakes and streams; characteristics of computer simulation. Possibility, advantages and disadvantages of different methods and limits of their applicability. Fulfillment of laboratory testes is connected with the calculation of the main numerical characteristics and calculation of pollution using specialized software. |
